Our History

1945 – When it all started

Kingsworthy Foundry began life back in 1945 as a fully functioning cast iron foundry.

Our iron founders made everything for the building trade, from manhole covers, stop cocks and square and circular gratings to fences and fire accessories. The Foundry was one of only a handful of foundry’s operating in the UK.

The foundry has always been located on the same site here in Kings Worthy. However, it was back in 1978 the business changed operations in order to focus on the manufacture and sale of Firebacks, Grates and Fireside Accessories.

Rather than cut a ribbon, the opening of the showroom was celebrated by lighting a fire!

Kingsworthy Foundry had to evolve to meet customer demands and therefore diversified its fire products and has now built an enviable reputation for offering a huge range of fireplace equipment, traditional cast iron firebacks, firegrates, woodburning and multifuel stoves.

Today, Kingsworthy Foundry is owned and managed by the grandson of the founder. It is widely accepted that Kingsworthy Foundry has the largest range of woodburning and multifuel stoves in the south, with a huge range of cast iron and steel bodied stoves from all the best manufacturers.

The team continue to share their knowledge and experience with customers within the impressive 3000sqft  showroom in Kings Worthy.
